Yoga is an ancient and complex practice that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. It began as a spiritual practice, and has evolved in the Western world as a way of promoting physical and mental well-being.
Although classical yoga also includes other elements, yoga as practiced in the United States typically emphasizes physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana). A regular yoga practice promotes endurance, strength, calmness, flexibility, mindfulness, and well-being.

There are innumerous benefits to a regular yoga practice!
Physically, a regular practice will make your body stronger and more flexible, improving your balance, posture, and proprioception. Although singularly powerful for body strength, yoga is also a fantastic complement to every kind of physical activity. Simply put, yoga will make you a better dancer/runner/athlete/weight-lifter/boxer/golfer/pickle-baller, etc. etc. Just as (if not more) importantly, yoga supports all the essential movement our bodies do throughout the day — things we don’t even think twice about. Things like hauling groceries out of your car. Gardening. Carrying around babies and chasing toddlers. Running up the stairs to catch the last BART. Reaching for that last can of soup at the back of the top shelf. Bending over to tie your shoes. Quite literally: the list goes on.
Mentally and emotionally, a regular yoga practice will give you improved focus, mindfulness, gratitude, and the ability to better manage anxiety.
Yoga also has tremendous social benefits, as it naturally lends itself to bonding within the community.

It’s a hugely common misconception that you have to be flexible or strong to do yoga. There are many levels in yoga and each student is at their own unique place of their journey. It is, however, inevitable that a regular yoga practice will make you more flexible.

We have a wide variety of classes ranging from Restorative and Yin, which invite the body and mind to fully relax, to stronger power flows, which get the heart pumping and the muscles activated. We recommend you join us on the New Student Special and take as many classes as you can during your trial to get a sense of all styles (note: most students regularly take a combination of classes to focus on different areas and get the full benefits of a regular yoga practice!).

There’s plenty of free parking on our main and side streets. After class, stop by next door at Yuri’s for delicious (housemade tortilla) tacos or a good cup o’ joe at Sabino’s Cafe.

Bring water to stay hydrated and a yoga mat, if you have one. We do have some loaner mats available (located in the big leather basket next to the blocks). Please wipe down the loaner with one of our essential oil mat sprays after use.

We take cleanliness very seriously at our studio; it’s cleaned and maintained daily and regularly deep-cleaned. We only use natural essential oils and Castile soap to clean and disinfect.
Our studio also has brand-new props: new blocks, straps, blankets, and bolsters, all of which get regularly disinfected (or washed) with an essential oil-based cleaner. Our bolster covers are custom-made performance fabric that is water, stain, and mold & bacteria-resistant. We also provide a variety of houseblend essential oil mat cleaning sprays to disinfect your mat after use.

We do not. Online classes were a necessity during the pandemic, but Bloom Yoga is centered on the in-person experience; it’s why we’ve designed the studio to feel restorative, warm, and light with many thoughtful little details throughout. Ultimately, you simply cannot beat the exchange of beautiful energy that happens among a group of yogis during class, and especially after savasana. It’s magic.
As a big focus of ours is on community, in-studio classes also foster the kind of person-to-person connection that we aim to keep facilitating and nurturing.

We do! We recently launched our Community Yoga program, which gives newly-graduated yoga teachers the opportunity to practice their sequences. These classes are free and/or donation-based for everyone (not just members). Check out our schedule to see when they’re held, as classes do rotate.
If you are a newly-graduated teacher who’s interested in learning more about this program, please email Alicia at alicia@letsbloomyoga.com for more details.
